I always get a renewed sense of energy as the Fall season approaches. Even though our homeschool doesn’t officially break for Summer, there’s just something about the rhythm of the year. As we settle into the Fall and we dig into school just a little deeper, I look for new additions to our homeschool day. The logical place to start is with a Fall theme.
When I was in college Fall was one of the easiest lesson plan themes out there. There are so many different topic possibilities. You’ve got changing of leaves, pumpkins, apples, owls, bats, and then it goes right into Thanksgiving! I could go on. But today I rounded up a few of my favorite resources for the Fall season to share with you.
These bundles and themes are great additions to your home classroom. They offer educational benefits as well as a break from the everyday lesson. Most of them cover just about every subject. I personally love to use these types of additions to add in subjects we may not cover on the daily. Poetry and extra read aloud come to mind. I’ll include the name of the bundle, the link, and a little bit of my own take on each one. Let’s get started!
Tree Guide -The Peaceful Press
First up is the Tree Guide from The Peaceful Press. It’s no secret that I love the Peaceful Press. For Millie’s Preschool curriculum we used their Peaceful Preschool curriculum. We adored it. It was simple and natural. It was beautiful and it worked! I was so impressed with the concepts Millie learned from the curriculum.
This Tree Guide is no different. We did this guide late last Summer and into Fall. It was perfect timing. This guide goes through all the stages of a tree, picks out certain letters to focus upon, and parts of a tree. All while incorporating reading, phonics, counting, and motor skills. I also loved the book list for this guide. We bought many of them!
Thanksgiving and Fall Unit Study-Life, Abundantly
I’ve followed the Life, Abundantly blog for a while now and I’ve enjoyed her content and encouragement. This Unit Study is something I bought last year. I used a few items but saved it back for this year. After looking through it again, I’m seeing we can use this unit even more this year! Its amazing how much learning happens in one year.
This bundle serves from Preschool to 3rd Grade. It also includes so many helpful tips on how and when to use each of the items included. I can’t wait to dig into this unit in a couple weeks!
Home + Haven Fall Bundle
This is a brand new resource and I’m so excited to have it and share it with you! The Home + Haven Fall Bundle has all those Fall topics I mentioned before. Apples, Pumpkins, Leaves, Owls, and more! Plus fantastic printables and book lists to get you going into one fun Fall season!
This bundle is one we will use for multiple years with multiple age groups. It’s a win! I did get this when it first came out, on sale. I am now seeing it is much higher in price. It really does come it a lot of content though.
What I look for in a Resource
When I’m looking for a resource for our Homeschool I have a few check offs that must be met.
- Quality Literature. Nothing worse than reading a dumb book. Sorry but true. I’ve got high standards when it comes to books. All of the above meet these.
- PDF download. I go back and forth on this as we walk this homeschool journey. Sometimes I really like just having a hard copy right here in front of me. But for a seasonal unit digital is nice because I can print off what I need or want and leave the rest. Plus the price point is usually lower when buying a digital download.
- Beautiful illustrations. This may seem shallow but we prefer natural and subtle illustrations, artwork, and photos. We like to keep things as close to nature as possible. Because creation is pretty darn incredible. Water color and hand drawn illustrations are our favorite.
So there you have it, 3 great resources to get you going this Fall! I hope you too find inspiration and encouragement in this change of season! None of these reviews or suggestions were sponsored they are totally authentic and real reviews and suggestions. Enjoy!
Thanks for stopping by!
