Home is our school. Neither my husband nor I were homeschooled and we both have very fond memories of Public School. However, we have several reasons as to why home educating is a priority for our family.

I completed my bachelors in Elementary Education but found that the traditional classroom wasn’t a great fit for me. I enjoyed my time in the classroom throughout college and student teaching but what I truly loved was working one-on-one with students. When I found myself pregnant just a few months into our marriage (Ok, one month.) I finished up my degree but never felt the pull to get back into the classroom.
Homeschooling had always interested us and as we continued to play and teach our baby, I knew we should explore this further. Our reasons and philosophy just grew from there. Living and schooling in a rural area has it’s own unique challenges but we are working through them and thriving.
“Our aim in education is to give a full life. We owe it to them to initiate an immense number of interests. Life should be all living, and not merely a tedious passing of time; not all doing or all feeling or all thinking – the strain would be too great – but, all living; that is to say, we should be in touch wherever we go, whatever we hear, whatever we see, with some manner of vital interest.”- CM
Through this blog we hope to share our home educating experiences and encourage you to learn along side your children. It really is incredible. And humbling. And life giving. And challenging. You get the picture. We also know that the best things aren’t easy, so we press on. This season of life is short and precious. We are committed to making it count, together.
