Hey there! Hope you are having a sun-shiny day! A couple weeks ago I had someone ask me about what percentage complete Donna was. I really didn’t know how to quantify it. Mainly because I know that the finish work is what is actually going to feel like it takes the longest. It always does.

We aren’t near the finish work steps yet. But we also aren’t too far. We’re somewhere in the middle. Maybe 65% done? Maybe? So I thought I’d give a quick overview of where we’re at and where we are headed over the next couple weeks.
The plaster walls have all been restored and thats a relief to have such a huge job complete. They look fantastic! It’s killing me to not paint yet, but we are trying to do this assembly line style. It seems to be working efficiently for us so I’ll stay the course.
The electrical and plumbing is complete until fixtures need to be installed.
In the second bedroom we had to smooth out the walls, rescuing them from some weird texture work.

We also added beadboard to the largest wall. We placed it horizontal. This decision wasn’t the most popular on my instagram polls but it’s what I had in my head originally so that’s what I stuck to. I really wanted it to look like we found it under the plaster. Many times in older homes you will find horizontal bead board under sheetrock or plaster. That’s where I was inspired with this wall.

Probably the other huge accomplishment was the completion of hanging sheetrock. The kitchen and bathroom are ready and waiting for mudding. Just having clean walls makes such a difference.

Jerrel also got this original cabinet squared up. No more strange jog out to the side. We still don’t know what we are going to do for a countertop for this cabinet. If you have any suggestions let me know!

I just love that we left the windows their original size. This house has such lovely natural lighting and the kitchen is no different!

The bathroom ceiling does have one coat of mud on it. So progress is being made. I think we have officially decided to focus on the bathroom. For so many reasons. Having running water inside and a working toilet are at the top of the list.

The laundry area is getting prepped for bead board. The entire room has a floor again and boy does that make such a difference!
Speaking of floors, we’ve finally ripped up all the old carpet. So we know what situation we are in with the floors. Part of them are in rougher shape, but not beyond repair. We also have two areas to patch from old floor furnaces. Not exactly what we wanted to see, but we expected to see at least one.

It was also common in old homes to lay linoleum in the middle of rooms and stain around that area. Then when you needed or wanted a new look you just rolled up that sheet of linoleum and got new! That’s what we think you are seeing evidence of in our color differences in wood flooring.
So there you have it. A round up of where we are now and where we are going in the Flip House. Donna is coming along. I expect a month on the bathroom another month at least on the kitchen. A week or two on painting another week on flooring and then finish work. But who knows. We are just taking one day at a time.
Because how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.
Here’s to little bites. Thanks for stopping by!
